Doggin' the Golden Isles

The Georgia mainland is completely protected by a chain of barrier islands that march down the coastline. So the mainland is comprised of salt marshes and the beaches are on the barrier islands. Several of the islands are wildlife refuges. The northernmost, Tybee Island, is the playground for Savannah and dogs aren't allowed there. The southernmost, Cumberland Island, is a national seashore reached only by passenger ferry. No dogs allowed there either.

For dog owners that leaves only one target - the Golden Isles.

The Golden Isles are four barrier islands centered around the historic port town of Brunswick. They are easily differentiated for the visiting dog owner. There is no land access to Little St. Simons Island. Sea Island is private and also has no access. St. Simon Island is heavily residential with a sandy beach that swings around its southern tip. The beach is backed by small dunes, beach houses and high rises. Dogs are allowed to trot the beach anytime except during the high season from Memorial Day to Labor Day. In the summer you can hike the beach before 9 am and after 6 pm.

Most dog lovers visiting the Golden Isles will want to head straight for the fourth barrier isle, Jekyll Island, billed as Georgia's jewel. First developed in the late 1800s as a playground for America's riches families, today the entire island, including 11 miles of Atlantic Ocean beach, is a state park. Dogs are allowed on all the beaches anytime.

The beaches around Jekyll Point at the south end are undeveloped and you can hike with your dog for hours beside natural wind-sculpted dunes. At the north end is Driftwood Beach where the forests come right down to the beach. here the sands are harder and the surf gentler. A great beach for strolling with your dog.

Away from the beaches there is no trail hiking for your dog in the Golden Isles, unless you like yo travel on paved bike paths. On Jekyll Island you can walk your dog through the 240-acre historic district anchored by the opulent Jeykll Island Club. You will wander on carriage roads around fantastic cottages built by the Vanderbilts, Morgans, Rockefellers, Goodyears, Pulitzers and so on.

Can I Get Back With My Ex Lover? Breakthrough Relationship Advice

"How can I get back with my ex lover?" she asked, not sure she had chosen her words right. Lover sounded so...dirty. She loved her ex, even though he had walked out on her more than a month ago, but she just couldn't let him go.

She crumpled up the sheet of paper and decided the relationship expert from the local paper may not be the best person to ask; every one new she was really the high school English teacher moonlighting as a small town Dear Abbey anyway.

But she desperately needed to ask someone; someone who would understand what she was going through and not just tell her to get over it. And, she'd made a lot of mistakes since the breakup, calling him endlessly, texting and emailing him non-stop...Even going so far as "accidentally" running into his mother.

He'd never take her back now, even if he had had second thoughts, she had really made a mess of things. Love makes you do some crazy things and makes you ask some silly questions... was she really about to ask her high school English teacher, "how can I get back with my ex lover?" Who talks that way?

And then it happened. Her sister, from out of no where, tells her about an amazing method to help her get over her ex. It's called the Fast Forward Technique and kind of translates you into the future where time has passed and your wounds have had time to heal... or at least the technique tricks your brain into thinking that is what happened.

So, she uses the fast Forward Technique and she starts to feel better. She lets her sister know how amazing she is and then she is floored by another little jewel of wisdom her big sis gives her about how she could actually get her ex back if she wanted to.

Just says it matter of fact like. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, why hadn't she told her about this before? You can probably guess why. It would not have worked if she had still been obsessing over her ex and not thinking clearly.

"I found this on the floor by the waste basket when I was in your room the other day looking for that blouse you borrowed," her sister said laughing, "how can I get back with my ex lover?" You were really going to ask someone that question?

Our recovering gal just smiled and shook her head no. Fact was, she now had the answer, and thanks to big sis, she did get her ex back and the two lived happily ever after.

If you're looking for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation, then you can't do better than head off on holiday to explore the spectacular landscape of New Zealand. Walking is the very best way to experience the real heart of a country that, although relatively young in historical terms, has a warm and engaging soul as old as the world itself. The great diversity of the country is one of its main attractions, but once you're there you'll realise that the true secret of its popularity as a walking destination is New Zealand's incredible accessibility. You don't need to be a seasoned hiker to enjoy New Zealand, walking here can be just as enjoyable for the novice too.

Rakiura Track
At the very bottom of New Zealand is Stewart Island and the Rakiura Track. This peaceful, bird-filled region is perfect for a gentle stroll through lush, cool forests followed by a picnic lunch on the beach and a dip in turquoise waters.... heaven.

Kepler Track
Discover the glacial beauty of New Zealand, walking this beautiful track through the Fjordlands of the South Island; through forests, past waterfalls and into spectacular valleys.

Routeburn Track
Still in the Fjordlands of the South Island, this trail will introduce you to the jewel-coloured lakes and snow-capped peaks of the Mount Aspiring National Park. In its entirety, the Routeburn Track is one of the shortest of New Zealand's 'Great Walks', but the scenery more than makes up for it!

Milford Track
This is New Zealand walking at its best. The world-famous Milford Track is picture-postcard perfect, with breath-taking views and invigorating hikes through the heart of the Fjordland National Park.

Heaphy Track
For the best of the rugged West Coast scenery, a day spent hiking along the Heaphy Track will take you through a range of different landscapes and along the windswept coastline.

Abel Tasman Coast Track

Lake Waikaremoana Track
The magical region around Lake Waikaremoana will take you on a calming journey through untouched rainforests and lush wetlands.

Whanganui River
For a little New Zealand walking with a difference, combine your hike with a canoe or kayak ride down the pristine Whanganui River which runs through the Whanganui National Park. New Zealand's longest navigable river winds for over 300km out into the Tasman Sea.

Look How Much the Computer Scene Has Changed

Just look at your computer. What is it? A desk top? A laptop?

The first computer I used required a room roughly half the size of of a basket ball court. The printer was nearly five feet tall and the size of an office desk. We were not allowed to touch the keyboard. The hard drive was probably 2 feet square and a foot tall.

That first one I used was dramatically smaller than the first electronic computer. The very first one required 5 city blocks and more electricity than the entire city of Denver.

Your computer case has one or more hard drives, a CD drive, the entire electronic computing system, the power supply and a cooling system all inside it. If it happens to be a laptop, it also contains a battery capable of running it for several hours. The battery can be recharged in an hour or so. There are phones available that have nearly as much computing ability as your computer.

Amazingly, this computer I have has greater power than that that first one I used. It is many times faster and much quieter. The line printer on the first machine I used printer 600 words per minute, an entire line at a time. If you were standing near the printer when it began to print, it sounded like a jack hammer.

My present printer will print 30 pages per minute without disturbing people across the room or distracting me sitting next to it. It can print both color and all shades of grey.
If it did not need to hold paper and toner, it would not need to be as large as it is.

Almost no programs were available to use the computer, so you had to learn a programming language to do anything. Debugging a program was immensely time consuming. Once you had the basic program working you would constantly find ways to make it more useful.

When the TRS-80 came out it had an amazing memory of 1K or 1000 bytes. Now we require gigabytes (1,000,000,000 bytes) of memory to just operate the computer.

With all these improvements, you would think that prices would be far higher than they are, but in fact, computers are no higher than they were then, even ignoring inflation. If we take it into account, they are a great deal cheaper,

Programs are available to do nearly anything one wishes to do and are often very simple to use. While they require a lot of memory, they are well within the capabilities of most computers. In fact, It is a bigger problem to decide which program you will be satisfied with than to find one to do the job.

If one is willing to do a little research, both hardware and programming can be found that will be satisfactory for whatever you want to use the computer for. There are numerous websites providing information about the products available, so one does not need to buy and hope his purchase will turn out to be a good buy.

At this point, the most important thing is to decide what you presently need and perhaps guess at what you expect to need in the near future. Fortunately, most of the hardware is adaptable enough that a perfect guess is not critical. Questions asked before you buy save a great many headaches later. If you can, try software to get an idea what it does. What feels comfortable to you will be different than what someone else likes.

Which hardware will be best will depend on many factors. Too small a screen may be hard to read. An undersized keyboard may make typing difficult. Too large a laptop may be awkward to carry. How much memory you need can make a lot of difference in what you spend. Thinking about What is desired and needed will enable one to get the best possible product.

Do Not Play With Fire! Practice Scout Fire Safety

One of the many things that young kids enjoy doing is going on a camping trip with their family or with their friends. It is great way to enjoy nature and to try out those survival skills in the great outdoors. And where could have these skills come from? Probably from one of the oldest and most well-known youth organization in the world, the boy scouts.

The boy scouts have been arranging several camping trips for their members in order for them to develop numerous skills and become more responsible in the future. Also, this is one of the best places to practice scout fire safety and to use the campfire equipment that has been stuck in the garage for the longest time.

But one thing that your little camper must remember is that camping out in the woods is not a bed of roses. He must have the right campfire equipment and must practice scout fire safety for them to enjoy their camping trip.

When it comes to camping, safety should be the number one priority of campers. A lot of unpleasant accidents may happen and the most common accidents that happen in a camping trip is a fire related accident. That is why it is important to know and to remember all of the fire safety rules and tips for camping to make sure that everybody will have a pleasant and safe trip and experience.

Here are a few scout fire safety tips that your little scout should remember:

• When starting a campfire, make sure that there are no trees near the area of the campfire. Have a lot of space for the fire to burn because if there are any trees near the campfire, the trees may get caught on fire and may be the cause of a forest fire.

• Never leave the fire unattended. Make sure that the fire size is always controllable and remember to put out the fire before going to sleep to make sure that the fire does not spread.

• Do not ever use a flame or some sort of heating device in the tent since this may get the tent on fire. Just use a flashlight or a battery powered device inside the tent to ensure the safety of the tent and whoever is staying inside.

• Make sure to use a flame retardant tent to make certain that it will not easily catch on fire and check that the tent has a decent distance from the campfire to ensure that it will not burn.

• When packing and using the campfire equipment, make sure to read all instructions that come with it and never leave it unattended to avoid any major or minor accidents from happening.

Camping may really be an invigorating and exciting trip for any kid but it is always important to be careful all the time. To avoid any fire related accidents, never forget all the fire safety tips and make sure that your kid is always with a responsible adult who knows what he or she is doing.

Your Soul's Reason for Being

Gerry writes:

'I have just been reading the latest ezine and I am sure I need help trying to clarify some of the points listed in the ezine.

I am all for living a life on purpose once I have explored the big question of why we are here. And I know people make up their own minds what their life on purpose should be. But how do you deeply know that your path is the correct path and has been correctly set?

Simply purposeful play sounds and sharing this attitude sounds great but if everyone is going in different directions it can be difficult when people who do not have a life of purpose attitude and try to cause trouble for those of us who would like to just live a simple purposeful life.

Your ezines always appear to be very positive and is always a great thing.'

--==++----

My Reply:

Thanks again for your message. Let's see if I can be of assistance along your own Purposeful Path. The Life On Purpose Perspective suggests that a person's life purpose is an overarching meaning for their life -- that which you as a soul/spiritual being came here to earth to be and to experience.

Said another way, your life purpose is a way of being that you bring to the world and to all that you do. In fact, what you do becomes the way in which you express who you are -- i.e. your life purpose.

Now, about those 'other people' who aren't living on purpose. I suggest that we are all here to live on purpose and some of us are more awake and aware to this than others. I look to my garden for a metaphor. I notice that some of the tomatoes on the vine are small and green, others larger and still green and still others starting to turn red. The red tomatoes are no more a tomato than a green one, just further along in the process of life. The same is true for people along the process of living on purpose. Our job, us 'redder tomatoes'
is to give room to others -- grant them being at whatever stage of development they are. It's the universal law of allowing, or said another way, accepting people as they are, while at the same time knowing who we are, and not holding our light under a bushel basket.

I've noticed that as I've continued to live my own life purpose I attract to me all the resources necessary to continue that process, and that includes other purposeful people. Since I've taken on the mission to assist others in clarifying their life purpose, I also attract 'green tomatoes in the process of turning red.' No one can really stop another person from living true to their life purpose since from the Life On Purpose Perspective a life purpose is a way of being.
It is not my view that people are going 'in different directions.' We are all going in similar directions. We are just at different stages of development and going at our own rate, and then expressing where we are in the process of living on purpose in our own unique ways.

Thanks. Your allowing me to offer this to you has given me the opportunity to explore this further for myself and thus become clearer as well.

It is Not the Amount of Money We Have Made Or What We Have Achieved and Accomplished That Counts

When something really great and wonderful happens to you is it not natural that you want to tell everyone and share it with the whole word? Yes, there is a degree of truth in that and it must the normal reaction with most of us.

But, there arose a problem in the Church at Corinth right at the very beginning where people were boasting in a way that was drawing too much attention to themselves rather to Jesus Christ and to Almighty God. Having listened to some testimonies over these past forty years I know exactly what this can be like.

We can hear of how certain individual used to be so involved in alcohol and drugs and crime and how Jesus saved them and rescued them from all of that. Now, their story may be true but there are certain details of people's past that we do not need to know too much about, and especially if it is drawing just that little bit too much attention to the individual. We can give some people a platform before there is sufficient maturity in Christ.

Before Paul told his story about these special visions and revelation he had waited fourteen years. There is a salient lesson in that.

In Scotland, we have given some personalities Christian platforms to tell their story far too soon, think that that would bring crowds of people to hear what had happened to them so come to faith in Jesus Christ. Our motives have been well meaning and high but frequently a touch unwise.

Have you heard of that believer who said that he had a vision from God every morning while he was shaving? Many would find that hard to accept and believe.

Paul also speaks about his thorn in the flesh. We do not know exactly what this was, bit it was a thorn in the flesh and whatever it was he prayed that it might be removed and God's answer was "No". My grace is sufficient for you. There is a most beautiful balance here. Some would like the visions and revelation from Almighty God, and then may recoil the heavy weight of carrying the cross of Jesus Christ.

It is so interesting that we are not told what this thorn actually was. Was it a debility or a weakness or a sickness or a pain, or even a person. I tend to think it might have been a person because we hear people today speak of someone as being a thorn in the flesh and it is easy to understand what is meant by that.

We are not told, and that is for a very good reason. We must be careful regarding conjecture when it comes to Scripture. Some things are hidden and kept from us, for which we can give almighty God thanks.

Many years ago one well-known Scottish preacher remarked that Paul had a thorn in the flesh and no one knew exactly what it was, but if we had a thorn in the flesh sent to us from Almighty God, the whole world would soon be told! That is such a profound comment.

One would almost want to pray that we would live in such a way that would need to be given a thorn in the flesh, particularly if it were to correct us in some area of life.

Paul would only really boast in the cross of Christ Jesus, and some of the more humiliating circumstances he had experienced, from which God delivered him. When in Damascus he spoke about escaping from those who were seeking to kill him by being lowered over the wall at night in basket, as God was protecting and preserving His servant.

What we boast about is important. If it is what we achieved and what we have done and the money we have accumulated, then all that is to no avail. It is what Jesus Christ does in us and through us that really counts.

Anniversary Gifts For Each Marriage Milestone

Anniversaries are perfect breakthroughs where a couple can spend their time together, after they have exchanged their wedding vows. Basically, anniversaries calls for parties to be celebrated in the journey of a couple's lives. Anniversary gifts should be given to serve as remembrance of the said event. As the marriage advances each year, anniversary gifts are evolving as well. Celebrating anniversary each year will probably take on new meanings. Not only the couple themselves are exchanging their gifts, but their children will also give anniversary presents to their parents to show their honest gratitude and love.

Wives usually expect romantic presents from their husband that make them feel special and very loved. Often romantic presents given by husbands to their wife are beautiful flowers like roses. Red roses bouquets are the most popular gifts not only during wedding anniversaries but during other romantic occasions like valentines and mother's day as well. However, if you want to give your beloved wife a romantic present that could a for years, you could always give special memorabilia such as an jewelry, personalized jewel box, monogrammed handbag and other customized products that will always be welcomed by most women.

You may include in your romantic options scented candles and enchanting music. You can find different variety of scented candles in the markets. Most of them are decorated with beautiful adornments which can really captivate any the women's eye. Or perhaps, you can burn her favorite songs on CD, then tie a fancy ribbon around the Cd's case with a printed tag of your special message for her. If you want to rekindle the romance with your wife, you could always send her a romantic gift basket. The basket may include fine chocolates, soft music CD, sparkling champagne, flavorful treats and candy tattoos, you may scatter rose petals for more passionate effect. This romantic idea will sure to touch her heart and can bring a smile to her face.

Another alternative is a spa gift basket, a great memorabilia to commemorate your anniversary. Typically, a spa basket is consist of bath crystals, bath salts, body gels, body lotions, massager, candles, slippers, spa robe, towel and other aromas that will sooth out the stress in her life, and help her to relax and refresh her entire body and soul. For women, they can also make a spa gift basket for their beloved husband. They can use a wood chip caddy as the container, then they can fill it with men's bath gel, bubble bath, hand soap, soft body scrubber, manicure set and even a grooming kit. Consider this idea to let him know that he deserves to pampered as well.

All the gifts that were mentioned earlier can also be given in different types of occasion also. A spa gift can made a perfect wedding gift for the bride at her wedding day, or perhaps can make one of most thoughtful bridal shower ideas on her shower party. While you can present also this basket, which is in male version, to the groom. For couple's they could also give spa gift baskets to their attendants to serve as their gifts for bridesmaids and gifts for groomsmen. So, to give a special memorabilia doesn't call for a specific occasion. Hand a gift that you know your recipient will love and cherish it.
