Children learn to love your step

A challenge that many parents walk in step, but many admit that they are crazy for their step children. They love their partners, who love their children, and are particularly challenged by the behavior of their children in hand.

When a step mother confesses that she is dealing with this, the first thing I do is "get" her on how to tackle the problem for her. Let us examine each of his emotions about this situation and an ideaas the step child does that makes her angry.

After some emotional dig, we move one of the most important issue, so we can see the blessing of the child. We begin to understand what this child is to learn and know more about the leave itself.

The easiest way to get the gift, which is what you get is to remember what life was like for you when you were children present, given the age. What were you experiencing? What things you need a parental figuretime? What were the ideas that you received on how beautiful a child at that time?

Most often we think our beliefs revolve around someone else to blame. The truth is that who they are and how they behave in reality their business, and the only thing we can control is how we choose to react to our circumstances.

If we are told that the child is rude, is what we believe and respond. If we are told that the child is alone, wetends to be more empathy and acceptance, and perhaps love, as we help them to achieve what is wrong in their lives.

Do you have someone in your life that makes you a lot of frustration? Take time to honestly examine yourself as a person who is a secret jewel of your life. What I'm here to teach you? What do you reveal things about yourself?

Write a detailed description of the person. Then, with any claim, demandthemselves how to treat his person (or others) in a similar way - perhaps in your mind, maybe in your conversations behind. How to read to that person if you think those negative thoughts about them? How to help in this way of thinking? And finally, how would you do differently if you feel this way not against them?

When in Rome - Guides Do not like!

Here are some tips on landing in Rome taken directly from the mouths of those who know best, the Tour Guides of Rome.

Elizabeth: Strangely, I do not think that many tourists really know much about the Gianicolo. It 's really a much better picture than that of Rome from the dome of St. Peter. Do not forget, there is no line and no need of three thousand steps to climb. Oh and the best part: it's free! What a great place to enjoy a coffee or an aperitif whileaccount of the views or even an evening of romance ... Bring a bit 'of wine, bread, cheese, and you can not tell where the night would progress! To get from the Vatican (behind the bus station Gianicolo), take the 115 bus that takes you directly there.

Mary: I love the Bakery near the metro station Ottaviano metro (line A) named Sweet Way. It smells divine any time of day you walk past, but the best part is that it is open all night. And 'goodnext to a military store and sex shop. The correct street name is Via Barletta. If you walk to the metro station Ottaviano Way, go around the Via Giulio Cesare and the road on the left. Walking a bit 'lower, and really follow your nose!

While we're talking food, do not miss The House of suppliers, (located in Piazza Re di Roma, but in addition to the supermarket SMA). This place has by far the best suppliers (small ballsmozzarella, tomato and rice covered in breadcrumbs and fried), I tasted in Rome. Best of The Dolphin, which is heavenly, but the House of Live 'peaks.

Sofia Restaurant Le Naumachie - Via Celimontana, 7 Run by the nicest brothers, Alfred and Roberto Micheli. This casual restaurant is named after Naumachie, the battles that allegedly happened when the Romans invaded the nearby Colosseum. The menu is short and sweet, and all that isfantastic. You should try buffalo mozzarella starter, the pizzas have a great crust and the meat is of excellent quality (Filettto in Danish). The house special sweet called "The Naumachie Trash" is probably the highlight of your visit, so leave room! This is a basket made of perfection of a wafer crust with custard and fresh berries and / or chocolate on top.

Eva: The Cloister of Bramante (Bramante): a palace of the 15th centuryNow art exhibitions, conferences, libraries and homes of wonderful coffee, this room is a little piece of paradise in the heart of the chaotic city of Rome. The plan was designed by Donato Bramante and is connected to the church of Santa Maria della Pace, on Via della Pace (a few blocks from Piazza Navona) The coffee is partly inside the open courtyard where you can sit in the fresh air and enjoy a cup of coffee or enjoy a light meal. We recommend the brunch items, salads and appetizers and beverages such as coffee and aperitifs. There's even free wireless access (ie value boast about a 600 years old building in a city like Rome)! You will not find on this site in many of the guides in Rome, so enjoy while you can still claim his crown as a hidden gem!

Kimberly: The sculpture of Bernini's Ecstasy of Santa Teresa is located inside the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria in Largo Santa Susanna. This artwork is one ofsculptural masterpieces of High Roman Baroque, and a few steps from Rome's main station, Termini. Surprisingly few tourists who actually do see it, but who makes the effort will be long remembered the brilliant work of Maestro Gian Lorenzo Bernini should enjoy for eternity.

Anna Maria Lake of Castel Gandolfo. Lake Albano is only 30 minutes by train from Termini station, and is connected to the city where the CastelgandolfoPope's summer residence is located. The volcanic lake is always a beautiful and fun place for a cold day from the bustle of Rome to lead. There are places for cycling, boats, etc., and many fine restaurants and inns of the family business that specializes in local Porchetta Ariccia rentals nearby. The best in my opinion is from Agnes, along the lake (immediately after the tunnel, turn left. Agnes for about ½ mile on the right).

There you have it, a betterList of Rome, taken directly from a gang of Rome and all things Roman seriously. Enjoy!

Hot Air Balloon Rides What happens?

What to expect on a balloon ride.

Several factors have a balloon entries fastest growing adventure ride and hottest gift tickets around made over the past 20 years. With more than 70,000 passengers flown in the UK alone each year.

Sir Richard Branson and his well-known Atlantic and Pacific crossings and numerous attempts throughout the world. All the balloons kept in the public eye.

The successful flight around the world of Brian JonesBertrand Piccard imagination of millions of people.

Balloon operators in Africa have made travel on the magic carpet and Mara Serengeti ecosystem Maas possible for many thousands of people.

Maybe that's why the people of Britain a ball voted the No. 7 what you should do before you die! A survey certainly caused an upward blip in the number of passengers flown in the UK.

Modern technology has also done a tour of passengers in a very comicsafer. Advanced burner designs, providing the most powerful flames. Much better that the lights remain on. Baskets for the carriage of passengers.

Especially modern fabrics that are not only stronger, but more able to assess the effects of Ultra Violet Light and combat mold and mildew. Yes, the balloons as your tent when it gets wet, rotting.

At this point I must admit that I am a hot air balloon pilot.

Ballooning is kind to me and took me to all pointsthe world.

Australia, Thailand, France, England, Kenya and South Africa all have similar needs in a balloon.

Wherever you are in the world.

I hope to answer some questions and maybe eliminate some concerns in this article. These are the questions I asked all the time.

Do you have a pilot's license?

Yes balloon pilots took written examinations as their friends, but with fixed wings have taken the test in a balloon flight instead. In somecountries, particularly the United Kingdom and Australia are also pretty strict commercial pilot license and annual testing to be undertaken. (You guessed it, I have UK and Australian licensing) linked to this, in most countries, the company will also have a balloon AOC. This or its equivalent issued by the local aviation. An inspector pilot the plane and checked all the paperwork and made the company the security servicesystems.

Run a Google control your country and how the person you kan call for a flight I can assure you that all paperwork is in place, Vlieghe not with them.

Better still ring from the aviation authority responsible for the balloons, because there will be one.

Ask them if they know the person you are going to contact us for a flight.

You do not believe that the number of unlicenced operators are out there. As a general rule, a pilot with 500flight hours and 5 years of experience should know what he or she is doing.

How many people in comics?

These days it is unusual for less than 4 people in a balloon ride passengers. Unless the customer has paid a substantial sum of money simply does not make economic sense for the operator balloon.

It would probably be a good average of eight passengers.

You will not get everything together. There would probably be five sections. A center for pilot andgas. Two sides each with two passengers.

This means that in case of landing speed may not all fall together.

Important to note here that there is no overhead cabinets so try to keep luggage to a minimum. A photo and video is really all you need. Remember the heavier the basket of the shorter duration of fuel.

Why so early or late?

The balloon flight takes place first thing in the morning or just before dawn.

Thisis the main reason why the sky is the best behaved at the time of day.

You can get cool at night and in simple terms for heavy or sticky. Trees, buildings, things to help slow down the air less sticky and the wind drops.

balloons do not handle high wind speed very well.

This is to stop.

After the flight, the pilot to draw a line and open a hole in the top of the ball, let it air. But just as quicklyas you can go through this. If your wind, the balloon envelope itself or how it should be more properly called acts like a sail and drag the basket that could be an obstacle. There are no brakes.

A trailing stop is a good time to see because it is a good idea balloon baskets cane. She bends and gives a more rigid material to bend or break. I can not count how many times I asked, "why is still a wicker basket. If the passengerculminating in a landing drag soon realize.

This sticky layer of air is known as boundary layer, the air over the 2000 move "is what the pilot is told from time when his office again to check before you fly. This is known as the gradient wind. will be faster.

They will also tell you the wind at the surface, but the slope is more accurate. Using the gradient provided by the pilot mentally did its best to guess where you end up out of your accountsite.

The pilot will probably release a small helium balloon before the flight and watch carefully. The harder and longer than the pilot faces the most difficult thing the flight is likely for him or her! If he spends piles of balls met then there is a good chance you'll go home.

winds high speed also means that more fields to stop. Your driver and if we think in this way what are the fields and go. Perhaps there is a vast area of forestwater in that direction. And 'possible to fly at higher speeds in certain directions and not in others.

As a pilot balloon flight cancellations as gevolg high wind speed is not why he came to bed the wrong side of ze dat do not like the look of you.

He or she called the flight due to a previous estimate and when you fly to the field to play the hand that is effectively managed by Mother Nature.

Balloon pilots usually work on a noFlight no cost to the system so if you cancel not only disappointed, but not paid either.

It 's always better to go home and try another day. It would be a shame, because today was your birthday or anniversary, but it is much better to see the next.

Count 16 people to go home is a real person engaged for the pilot. People often protest and for air. My friends and I are used to move thesepassengers down the waiting list!

Back to the sticky air, holding back begins to be affected! The sky above a river is colder and moving with that river. A dam is made of wood or cold. You can be with or against these cold regions and lets you control a bit '.

The ball can only fly with the wind, that's all. And 'the pilot up and down in different layers of the atmosphere in the vessel to drive.

When the sun rose and the boundary layer heatsrises and mixes with the wind gradient, so the balls land on the track straight and fast.

In some parts of the world, you can fly at night, think of it as the opposite. You start the flag of a highly anticipated track, and then as the air cools and the rest you can play with the direction a bit '.

If you're in a really cold snowy place where you can fly all day.

If the pilot to take off and the wind takes flight in which he or sheto end the flight to the first field that are great. Disappointing, but also secure.

What should I wear?

The heated air in the balloon to about 100 ° C and you're in your own bubble wind, hence no wind chill. It 'pretty hot in the basket. People tend to dress and be sorry. But go for layers that can be easily removed.

If you are a morning flight on a summer day, it will probably be warm enough for a few hours aftersunrise.

The biggest mistake is true in the clothing department passenger foot.

Fields can have in the morning dew or a little 'less poetic that he left a cow. Welly sturdy shoes or boots in good standing balloon.

The color white is not the best plan, either.

What "We Fly?

Ballooning is best enjoyed on top of the tree height. Climb a bit 'to say 2000, "helps the eye to take place and enable the pilot to monitor progress.

AsIt 'really calm your driver will go higher because there is little else to do! I'm out and landed in the same area.

How long will the flight last?

Most of the balloons to fly with enough fuel for one and a half flight safe '. Call me old-fashioned hours call me a fool, but it is better to leave something to the event so one hour is usually the time flies.

The only time you can have too much fuel is when you are on fire.

Now, if a field is perfectlyunder the ball 50 minutes, it is helpful to the ground.

If you are fighting for passengers because they want to insist that their flight hours and the power lines that hit your Indaba.

And 'success and by the aeronautical authorities rather negative towards the pilots what kind of things to do.

Now, if you remember, at the very beginning when I said that the lighter the basket, the better the fuel lasts ... Well it's very true. Perhaps because they sinkwith the pilot obtains a consumer and will do much more by the hour.

Another tip here, if they show interest and seem to spell any good driver will attempt the flight even longer. If it is too late to flying site carry the world on board and rude, you can get a quick flight. This is life.

How far will you fly?

You return to what new wind. Flights in the evening beyond the normal morning.

As a rule we flysomewhere in the order of 12 km on a flight.

Where would we go?

The pilot before he or she should start thinking about the landing can be. Refining the position continuously during the flight.

Your landing page will almost certainly not go back where you started. You can sometimes, but that is very rare.

Will probably be over farm field with four legs or something in the environment.

If you happen to fly with me to Kenya, aflipping large field with four-legged furry things.

Sometimes on the edge of urban pilots can land on football and school yards. This is normal.

How will we land?

Almost everyone seems to have seen pictures of balloons dragging along the ground on their side. Now, this is normal Kenya or Tanzania, where balloons flying in the wind slightly higher than the rest of the world. Since the design of this basket has changed dramatically. Greatbaskets routine 18 passengers. These baskets are flat pillow and chairs.

For a fast landing of passengers with his back to the sense of sitting on chairs and their hands on chord processing. The sides of the balloon are sufficiently high that their heads will be below the top of the basket.

It 's just a matter of waiting for it to stop. If the balloon slows the truck so that passengers arrive at their return to normal skylaugh.

You have high-speed landing in other parts of the world, but in my 18 years I have managed to East African game speed.

Very important to keep limbs inside the basket while you drag, otherwise it will break. Even if you have something around his neck as a camera or binoculars will fold a shirt or top to stop fly high and get yourself or a friend in the face. Much better for them if your feet. Anyone with a longit must also be careful not to drag the bottom of the basket.

For the most part it provides a very gentle touch, the upright basket.

Very important not to leave until the pilot says. If you have lost weight, the ball can take off again and you'll walk home.

How will we go back?

Therefore, once the ground is likely to have the package to help pilot the balloon while the vehicle is in contact with the walkie-talkieyour pilot discovered how in the field.

This may take some time. It is not always obvious to the crew just as the balloon.

You will then normally return to the launch pad are taken. It 'amazing how often and how hard. Remember that when the ball flew in a straight line between roads and railways.

It can be a harrowing path wind.

This is perhaps why the crew takes a few minutes to find.

Damn whatstarted as a short note seems to have gone a bit '. If you truly have fears or questions you want answered. I will try balloonsafaris@hotmail.com

Popular Orchid Growing Tips

One factor behind the increase in the number of orchids suitable for growing indoors is the development of hybrid varieties which have improved the quality of flowers and strengthened the growing characteristics of the plants.

This variety has provided the opportunity for those inexperienced in cultivating orchids to firstly select their preferred orchid type and then confidently grow the plant by following the recommended guidelines applicable for their particular orchid.

Listed below in alphabetical order is a selection of some of the most popular orchids to grow indoors, combined with a brief guideline on how to care for each variety.

Cattleya Orchids

• This orchid variety grows in the region of Central America, and within the South Brazilian area of the Amazon basin.

• Cattleya Orchids produce scented flowers in a variety ranging from white, through pink to orange and purple. In healthy plants the leaves are pale to olive green.

• The maximum summer temperature for the Cattleya Orchid is 26 Celsius (80 Fahrenheit) and it can withstand periods of direct sun. To provide suitable humidity, place the pot on a small tray containing moist small stones.

• Like most orchids, the Cattleya Orchid thrives on alternating wet and dry periods. For indoor grown orchids watering intervals should be once a week with more frequent watering when the temperature increases. To gauge when it needs watering check that the potting medium has completely dried out.

• The nutrients for the orchid plant to flourish can be provided by using a soluble fertiliser sprayed from a misting bottle or atomizer.

• The Cattleya Orchid is likely to benefit from repotting after two or three years, using chopped bark mixed with sphagnum moss or charcoal.

Cymbidium Orchids

• The natural habitat for this orchid is in parts of China, Japan and South East Asia as well as the Himalayas.

• Cymbidium Orchids grow yellow, brown and pink flowers, with the hybrid varieties adding white and green blooms. It is ideally suited to growing indoors or outdoors during the summer weather conditions.

• Being used to a temperate climate, the Cymbidium Orchid will thrive with a cool night time temperature of 11 Celsius (52 Fahrenheit) and maximum summer daytime temperature of 24 Celsius (75 Fahrenheit).

• Like many other orchids, Cymbidiums require most frequent watering, twice a week, during the warmest summer months and then reduced watering when the temperature is cooler.

• Similarly, Cymbidiums need regular fertiliser applications only in the warmer months and then reduced to monthly applications during the cooler weather.

• When the roots of the Cymbidium Orchid become too large and extensive for the pot it is time to re-pot. This can be done using plain tree bark which will provide good open drainage within the larger pot.

Dendrobium Orchids

• Dendrobium Orchid species grows in South East Asia where the climate is equatorial, although there are varieties of this orchid which thrive in cooler temperatures away from the tropics.

• This orchid is known for their abundant blooms, some types with a colour range of white, pink and purple and others with yellow or brown flowers.

• The most common varieties of Dendrobiums thrive on heat and light, even direct sunlight.

• Similar to the other orchids reviewed here, this orchid should be watered and fed with fertiliser regularly during the high temperature months, with much reduced watering and no fertiliser when the temperatures are cooler.

Epidendrum Orchids

• The Epidendrum Orchid, otherwise known as the Poor Man's Orchid is native to Mexico. Although its flowers are smaller than many other orchids the quantity and colours of the blooms, together with the ease with which they can be grown make this a very popular orchid.

• Epidendrum Orchids are dependent upon the temperature of full sunlight, but will thrive in both tropical and temperate climates.

• Regular watering and fertiliser applications are essential, especially when the temperature is high.

• The growth season of Epidendrum Orchids is from spring to summer. Provide plenty of water and fertilizer during these months to ensure proper growth of blooms.

• As with other orchids, when repotting use a mixture of tree bark and sphagnum moss.

Vanda Orchids

• Vanda Orchids originate from South East Asia, the Himalayas and Australia and are recognised as having among the most beautiful flowers.

• This orchid thrives on very strong but filtered sunlight together with warm temperature and high humidity levels.

• An ideal method for growing the Vanda Orchid is in a hanging basket filled with a cork bark potting medium.

• During its growing season the orchid requires watering every day combined with fertiliser applications at two weekly intervals. For the remainder of the year the watering should be reduced to just maintaining the potting medium in a moist condition.

• It is recommended to avoid re-potting the Vanda Orchid as this may result in the plant ceasing to flower.

Now to the real question, "Does The Belly Buster Diet really help you to lose those unwanted inches?" Having visited their website, I have seen numerous testimonials and I have come to the conclusion that indeed this company is legitimate with their claims and that their products and services really do work in order to help people live a more healthy lifestyle.

However, I do have a couple concerns about this company through the perspective of a distributor of their products.

First off, because Belly Buster Diet is a direct sales company their entire business model is solely based around their products. While the health and fitness industry is exploding as more and more people become conscious of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, having been in the industry for many years I have seen companies come and go and one thing I have noticed in particular is that whenever a company has all their eggs in one basket, generally the end result is a very unstable company.

Secondly, any new direct sales company is virtually meaningless unless they have the right leadership standing behind them. If Belly Buster Diet can attract the right people with a lot of influence, I feel that they will be able to become a very profitable company and will be able to expand quickly into different markets.

Lastly, no matter what business you look at, the opportunity is literally useless unless distributors know how to market their business, generate leads, and how to develop themselves as professionals. Although I am sure Belly Buster Diet means well by educating their distributors in the traditional direct sales model, unfortunately, times have changed and strategies to market as well.

The truth is that we are currently in the information age in our world today and the people that have the right training, education, and knowledge are going to be the ones that will make the most money in this industry. The company at the end of the day is not the sole factor which determines your success in this industry, it is merely just the vehicle to get you to where you want to go.

If you are interested in learning the real strategies behind building a thriving Belly Buster Diet business, make sure you read the resource box below and click on the link for more information.

Los Angeles already has a reputation for being a dog-friendly city, but its neighbor down south is making steps to become the next hot dog spot in
Southern California. Long Beach is a coastal city that has recently opened three acres of its beach in Belmont Shore as an off-leash area. "The

Also in Long Beach is the very active Haute Dogs organization, which
arranges several doggie-centered events in Belmont Shore all year long. The
Haute (pronounced "hot") Dog Easter Parade features hundreds of dogs
marching along in bonnets and Easter outfits, while the Howl'oween Parade

booth; and a dancing dog demonstrations. If that's not doggone wacky enough,
stick around Long Beach for the Haute Dog poetry contest and bulldog beauty
contest.

Several restaurants and shops along the busy Second Street in Belmont Shore
offer water bowls to welcome pets. Pet-friendly accommodations are rather
scarce (you may be better off making Long Beach doggie festivities part of a
day trip), but you can try the following:

Walkng Between Kathmandu and Tibet - Day Seven

Walking between Kathmandu & Tibet: Day Seven

Day Seven: Snow Bound in the Himalayas

There something always magical about waking up in a snow storm. If it weren't so freaking cold at the Tea House Lodge I would even be more inspired. Still, it was lovely.

The snow buried our tentative plans to hike through Ganja La Mountain Pass into the Helambu region on the Tibet border. It would have been tough anyway. We didn't have the right gear or food supplies. Plus, the pass was above 15000 feet. It start to get hairy at that altitude unless your well prepared. Trekkers should never underestimate the life and death risks of crossing a high mountain pass.

We were the worst outfitted trekkers in the Himalayas. It was partly because we were being spontaneous. We didn't like to plan anything, so we had to get by with what gear we had with us. I had a pair of high top leaky sneakers and a heavy yak wool sweater under my old Army jacket. My backpack did have an adequate padded waist belt to diffuse the weight. We had no tent or cooking gear. Kirsten was hardly better off with a summer weight sleeping bag and old alunimum frame pack.

In contrast, we saw a super slick hiker go by yesterday while we were immobile from altitude acclimation. This guy reeked of over preparedness. He had a new red matching full body ski suit that shined as if it was just off the shelf a REI. His backpack and even his boots were color coordinated.

The hiker was alone, but marched with 4 sherpa porters carrying God know what as he also had a full backpack. It was alot of gear for such a tame area as Langtang Valley, but perhaps he was going over the pass.

This flashy hiker also marched with confidence, as if he knew who he was and where he was going. He had the plan, but it seem somehow intellectual & joyless as if he was missing the beauty of the experience. He marched briskly by as if he had an appointment to keep.

My mind is imagining all these detail about the poor guy and who knows maybe this style was just perfect for him. I saw him later the day of the snowstorm. I can only imagine what kind of hell he experienced in that blizzard last night if he was on a high peak.

His demeanor was total changed. He look dragged out and demoralized. Gone was his jaunty step. Rag tag was his shiny gear. Dulled and worn from just one night.

His head hung low from fatigue and his sherpas looked exhausted. I'll never know what kind of fait awaited him on the mountain. Maybe he found just what he needed, a dangerous situation, that he could tell stories about for the rest of his life.

For me, joy comes in a different form. I'm not overly ambitious and like to smell the flowers as I pass them on the trek. I get alittle hyper sometimes, but it usually works itself out before I actually do something overly zealous. Hence, my Ganja La Pass ambition was out. It was going to be chillin' in the crib. And I do mean chilling!

It was cold out, so we bargain with each other to see who would go out and collect supplies. Kyanjin had a small Yak cheese & yogurt factory. This offered unparalleled delights that were not ordinarily available in the Tea House menu.

If you ever get a chance to try Yak cheese, I highly recommend it. Yum Yum. It taste just like a yak smells. Hard to believe, but it's good! Also, the thick creamy yogurt was delicious with some Himalayan mountain honey.

As the day progressed, I grew alittle stir crazy in the lodge. I manage to talk Kirsten into attempting the trek down to Langtang Village even though it was still snowing quite steadily. She was a good partner in that way. Always ready for adventure if you phrased the question properly.

Our Euro friends thought we were crazy to go trekking in the snow. The Nepali Tibetans who ran the Tea House, told us the Lama at the monastery had said to all people of the village to wait for the storm to finish. It was unsafe.

I thought Lama-Smama. It's just alittle snow. What's the big deal? Were in a narrow valley. How unsafe could it be? How could we possibly get lost? There's only one way to go,..... down. We could easily see the sides of the valley from the path in the center. It's not like there is anywhere else to go,...

We suited up and protect ourselves up with scarf, hat and our makeshift gear. As we crossed the thresshold and bade our companions goodbye a tingly feeling rippled through me. Ah, on the trail again!

Trodding one foot after another in crunchy snow was invigorating. The wind whipping around and low visibility seemed like fun to me at first. Langtang village was only about 3 - 4 hours walk. It would be a challenge within reach.

We made it about a hundred yards from the Tea House and the trail disappeared. Oh My God! Where is the trail? These Himalayas are rocky mountains and without a trail you stumble constantly over stones. We could see the sides of the valley easily enough, but where is the trail? Where? Where? Where? Where? Where? It has to be somewhere around here,... under this snow.

After half an hour of zig zaggin, Kirsten & I looked at each other and laughed. It was very amusing. How could we be so naive? Nobody hikes in a snowstorm! You just can't find the trail. Oh well, back to the Tea House for some hot chai and humiliation.

Actually, we were not too embarrassed to turn back and our gang at the Tea House was glad to see us. We hung around the fire until the days logs ran out. It was another day of story telling and makeshift meals.

Luckily, there were a few supply shops in Kyanjin Gompa along with the Cheese Factory. The factory was build by a donation from the Swiss to promote the local economy. What a blessing this small stone building brought! It's stainless steel equipment inside was a sharp contrast to the low tech environment outside. It seem really out of place and yet it worked it's magic here at 14000 feet cranking out delicious Yak Cheese & Yogurt.

Sources for food were scarce at these high altitudes and the variety was extremely limited. Many things had to be trekked in on somebody's back.

One of the most amazing sites I saw in Nepal was a Tibetan woman hiking up the side of a steep mountain with a woven reed basket full of Coca-Cola on her back. Much to my surprise, she was cheerful after the daunting climb and greeted us with a friendly "Namaste" at the top.

I think she even tried to sell us a coke. This was the sole reason for hauling such a heavy load of this worthless drink. It was to make money from tourists. Water was everywhere and free, but if you wanted a coke, it cost a dollar. The price was not too much, considering her difficult long climb, but it was alot of money for mountain villagers. They were living a subsistence existence farming and hardly every saw a rupee much less a dollar.

Back at the Tea House Lodge, little food parties would transpire with whatever small treats we had in our packs. On this trek, we didn't really carry too much extra food other then small snack items. Thank God! A couple weeks of food supply can be quite heavy in your backpack.

The Tea Houses cooked simple, but nourishing local food and they could be found in almost every village. It was a great source of income for the local villagers. An average meal would run about 100 rupees ($1.50) even though the cost of a Tea House place to sleep was only 5 to 15 Rupees. The government of Nepal even had a training program in English language and Tea House operation. Himalayan villagers had to be certified to run a Tea House for tourists. It was very well organized and made the life of a trekker so much easier.

We snacked on exotic dried fruit & nuts with occasional bite of Yak Cheese. On top of our jackets, we wrapped our sleeping bags like shawls to stay warm. I had not shaved or washed for days. My sleep at this high altitude was sparse and I had dysentery. Yet, this was a happy moment and treasured scene. I felt totally alive. Adventure was my life blood and being on a Himalayan mountain top was a real experience.

My energy came from an emotional high that greeted me from the moment I opened my eyes every morning. I was so excited to see what the day would bring. Trekking in the Himalayan Mountains was a trip through time. The people were colorful and interesting. They had lived in much the same manner for 5000 years. Visiting them was like walking into a living history.

The scenery was glorious. The flora and fauna was totally new to me. Every bird and flower was a new color or sound. We had passed through many different ecosystems on this trek and were greeted by a host of earths fascinating creatures.

We socialized with our new Euro friends into the evening in our Tea House Lodge. You meet some pretty interesting trekkers at 14000 feet in the Himalyas. They were strong original people with character and a natural bond was shared between us.

I began to realize that it was really great to be in a slow place with no schedual and no where to go. Just hanging out with nothing to do can be the best thing on earth. One needs to take time to learn to be a real Human BEing. I guess being snowbound was not so bad after all.

I wrote a bit in my journal, and then settled into my sleeping bag as the gray day passed into night. It was early to bed in the mountains with no electricity, no fire, and a silence as big as the sky.

Cheap and Effective Christmas Gifts

Given the stagnant economy and the need to pinch pennies wherever possible, many are putting the kibosh on expensive gift-giving and instead opting for smaller, more personal gifts. While this may seem like a difficult task given the wildly divergent personalities of all gift recipients, a little ingenuity can make it simple and fun.

Although often considered the perfect gift for your first high school sweetheart, a mix CD featuring some of your best music is a cheap, easy gift with a personal touch. This gift works especially well for those who share the same love of music as you do. To add some flair to it, a CD labeling system can help you design cover art for both the CD itself and the jewel case. Utilizing this show just how much thought you put into it, making it all the more special for the recipient.

For those of you who have busy friends and family, offering a service can be an exceptional gift. If you know a couple with a new baby struggling to find some time for themselves, offering to babysit can be a great gift. This also extends into simple household duties, such as mowing the lawn for a month or performing other tasks around the house.

In the end, if money is a serious factor, your friends and family will understand if you can't get them something fancy or expensive or comparable to what they got you. Gift giving isn't about reciprocation, it's about spreading joy to those you love.

Complete Buyer's Guide to Carpet

Endless design possibilities and show-stopping colour mean it's time to welcome an old friend back to the floor...Carpets are magic again

It's official - carpet is cool.

What used to be a blank canvas for the rest of the room is coming to the fore, with fresh hues, daring patterns and textural weaves. 'New technology means the variety of carpets is much greater than 20 years ago,' says Charlie Clark, champion of Fun On The Floor carpet campaign. 'These days you can make a real style statement underfoot.'
'The right floor covering adds warmth and personality,' adds interior designer Danielle Proud. 'Beautiful carpet also evokes a feeling of luxury - think boutique hotels.'

Don't forget the comfort factor - however many cushions you scatter, floorboards will never match up to carpet for low-level lounging. Consider, too, that carpet creates a sound barrier, it's safe and non-slip when kids are around, and also provides another layer of insulation, which can in turn lower your winter fuel bills. So forget boring beige and stamp your personality on your home with a daring shade or sumptuous shag pile (yes really!). Carpet is back.

Contemporary colour and pattern

'Wallpaper has enjoyed a huge renaissance, but just papering a feature wall can look a little dated now,' says Danielle Proud. 'Carpet and bold pattern on the floor is definitely
the next big trend.' Darren Clanford, creative director at Ryalux, agrees. 'There has been a complete colour revolution,' he says. 'Whereas carpet used to be the last consideration, now people are thinking about their floor covering first. Unexpected colour or a simple stripe makes all the difference.'

KEY TRENDS
o 'We've seen a massive resurgence in red,'says Darren. 'From pure scarlet to cerise, red can look really opulent.' Alternatively, why not cosy up for winter with rich berry and jewel-like shades, such as aubergines and teals, in deep, luxurious finishes?

o Fresh and contemporary, a colourful Paul Smith-style stripe is a failsafe way to bring pattern into your home. Stripes can also be used to change perspective, elongating or narrowing a space.

o Turkish or Persian-style carpets add a touch of the exotic, or be brave with a bold, geometric design taken from original Sixties David Hicks prints, made to order from The Carpet Library

o It is possible to get carpets digitally printed with your own design, but it can be expensive if you have a large area to cover. Another innovation involves cutting shapes and patterns into carpets and jigsawing in a design in a different shade. Contact carpetworkshops.com for information.

o If you can't track down a specific shade, then why not get your carpet colour matched? 'Ryalux can create carpets in completely bespoke shades to match anything from a fabric swatch to your favourite pair of shoes,' says Darren.

New neutrals and wonderful weaves

Rather than standard beige, opt for a more modern look with one of the new neutrals. 'Think Calvin Klein colours,' says Danielle Proud. 'Choose minks, nudes and velvety taupes, or even deeper browns or darker greys.'
Textures add a different dimension to carpet, too, creating depth of colour and a pattern in themselves. 'Very small loop pile carpets that emulate the ever-fashionable plant-fibre floor coverings are still going strong,' says Michael Turner, general manager at Crucial Trading. 'However, today's chunky carpets and variable pile heights are a world away from the traditional wool twist.'

KEY TRENDS

o Ultra-comfy underfoot, shag pile is even sexier the second time round. Seventies-style, long-pile carpets add a luxurious touch, and work particularly well in bedrooms. Use them to create a cosy feel in family rooms, dens or TV rooms.

o Go to extremes with texture. XL yarns (very wide: see image two, above) create amazing surfaces that are brilliant for the boudoir. 'There are some really thick, tufted carpets with yarns that are the width of a cigarette, sometimes even bigger,' says Martin Long, managing director of The Carpet Library. 'These can be loop piles that create a chunky effect, or be cut to reveal a contrast colour running through the centre.'

o 'You don't have to have the same carpet throughout the house, but think cohesively,' says Lorna Haigh, marketing manager at Alternative Flooring. 'Why not ring the changes by laying a chunky carpet next to a flat weave?'

o Stop press: white is a feasible carpet option, thanks to clever advances in cleaning and care (but you can also make a striking statement with hide-all black).

Thoroughly modern plant fibres

Plant-fibre floorings come in a whole host of incarnations, from naturally fine jute to strong seagrass and coconut husk (coir).

Undoubtedly the most versatile of the bunch, robust sisal can be dyed in myriad modern shades, and woven into highly decorative and sophisticated patterns, such as herringbones and Jacquards. 'We're seeing a shift from the ubiquitous basket-yellow colour,' says Lorna Haigh. 'Now we have dramatic tones, such as dark browns, black, greys that look like woven steel, stripes and metallics that have a really lustrous feel.'

If you want the look of plant fibre, but find that sisal is still a little on the scratchy side, sisool combines sisal for strength and wool for softness. Or for something completely different, paper flooring has an elegant matt appearance and is surprisingly strong and durable.

CARPET QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Which carpet should I use where?
Areas of heavy traffic, such as hallways and living rooms, will require a much harder-wearing carpet than a bedroom. Think about whether kids or pets will be in the room, and whether there is direct access to the outside.

How do I set a budget?
'Expect to pay as little as £20 per sq m for a good-quality carpet that will keep its appearance,' says Rupert Anton, marketing director of The Carpet Foundation. 'But don't forget to include the cost of fitting and underlay.'

Do I need new underlay?
'Yes, even if it appears in good condition,' says Rupert. 'Underlay increases a carpet's life span by up to 40 per cent. It also improves the feel underfoot and increases heat and sound insulation. Manufacturers may not accept a complaint if either old underlay has been used or none at all.'

Who will install my new carpet?
Your retailer will give you a quote and recommend a specialist fitter. Always employ a qualified installer, as not only will they ensure the carpet looks good, they will be used to negotiating access points.

What about asthmatics and allergy sufferers?
Independent studies have shown there to be no link between carpets and allergies. Airborne particles can trigger asthma, but carpet actually traps dust, which can then be vacuumed up. It's also not an ideal habitat for dust mites, which can cause allergies, and stringent legislation ensures that carpets have very low VOC levels (the compounds that cause indoor air pollution).

How easy is it to keep a carpet clean?
Mop up any spills immediately by blotting with kitchen paper or a dry cloth. Don't rub the carpet or over-soak the stain, but use warm water, working from the outside in. If the stain persists, call in a professional.

Head to The Carpet Foundation and Fun on the Floor for lots more advice about choosing and buying carpet.

Carpet Jargon

o Twisted pile is created from yarn that has been twisted tightly together. The loops are then cut to achieve a textured appearance. Twists come in the widest variety of colours, shades and prices.

o Looped pile is durable and practical.
The loops can be made at either a uniform height, or different heights to form a textured pile. Sometimes both cut and loop pile is combined for a more dramatic, sculptured effect. It's
very good at maintaining its appearance throughout a long lifetime.

o Velvet or velour pile carpets have a very smooth finish - perfect for bedrooms.

o Saxony carpets have a dense, cut pile made with longer tufts than other styles; often used in living rooms or bedrooms.

o Shag pile is an extremely luxurious carpet made the same way as a twisted pile, but with extra-long tufts for a shaggy look

7th Year Anniversary Gift Ideas to Beat the 7-Year Itch

More myths and dark superstitions surround the 7th anniversary year than any other. Even the silver screen has paid tribute to it -- think Marilyn Monroe in the 1955 blockbuster 'The Seven-Year Itch'. Although you may have had a roller-coaster ride so far, all that good-natured ribbing by friends is causing a tinge of alarm to run up and down your spine. Yes, we are talking about the infamous seven-year itch!

As the 7-year anniversary looms, is your wife secretly wondering whether she is going to end up as the next statistic in the crumbling marriage market? Does even an innocent glance at a pretty woman that you pass by on the street find her eyes impaling you with a penetrating stare? Boy, it is time to appease all those spoken and unspoken fears and doubts! Surpass yourself (and her expectations) -- present her with a 7th wedding anniversary gift like no other!

Take your pick of gifts - exotic and lavish, inexpensive but thoughtful or outright sensual and even naughty. Each gift speaks volumes about your feelings for your wife. Here are some gift ideas especially hand-picked for you.

Copper gifts -- Copper signifies prosperity and good fortune and is traditionally associated with the seventh year. Left untended, copper appears dull and old. But, a brisk polishing soon brings back its burnished sheen. (A lesson here?) The market is flooded with copper-themed objects. If she loves off-beat jewelery, then present her with delicately crafted copper bracelets in a variety of designs. You can even go for copper photo frames which have some mind-blowing close-ups of the two of you.
Woolen scarves and sweaters -- Along with copper, wool is also the 7th anniversary year's traditional gift -- representing warmth, durability and security. The kind that couples who have married for so long share with each other. If your anniversary falls in the winter months, then splurge on some high-quality woolen scarves and cardigans that will keep her cosy and warm when you are not around for some TLC! And, guess what, some really cool wool jewelery is also very 'in'! Wool jewelery is all the rage now, is inexpensive and eco-friendly to boot.
Desk-sets -- If traditional stuff is not your cuppa, go modern with a vengeance with desk sets. This would also be great gift for someone who works from home and desperately needs something to organize all that chaos. Desk sets can be a deep, rich wood (mahogany, walnut, rosewood), a contemporary aluminum, or the all-time classic leather (if you have the money to splurge).
A bouquet of Jack-in-the-pulpit flowers -- Unusual yet gorgeous - just like her --flowers are a man's best ally when it comes to wooing a woman. Even if she is hopping mad at you, she cannot remain annoyed for long when faced with a bunch of beautiful flowers. Your best bet for the 7th year is a bouquet of Jack-in-the-pulpit flowers --the traditional flowers for this year.
Onyx and lapis lazuli jewelery -- As with all anniversary years, the 7th year also has certain gemstones associated with it. Jewelery never fails to impress a woman with its inherent intimate connotations. Stun her with some exquisite onyx and lapis lazuli necklaces, pendants, rings, earrings or bracelets and her delighted smile will hold you in its warm embrace for a long time...
Ease romance back into the relationship --With the passage of time, the two of you have settled down to a cosy, comfortable routine. That is inevitable, of course. But, did romance noiselessly tip toe out one day and you could not even hear it go? Has her sexy lingerie of the earlier years given way to comfortable cotton pajamas while you, more often than not, skip shaving every now and then? Now is the perfect reason to plan a mini-break such as a weekend getaway. Pack the kids to grandma's house and organize every little detail. Believe me, half the fun lies in the planning and the anticipation.
Pamper her silly -- If she is a working mom, juggling a demanding career, growing kids and domestic chores, she probably has very little 'me time'. This is where you step in to do your bit. Shower her with top-drawer bath and body products that promise to get the spa experience home. Better still, get both yourselves booked at a spa that offers couple treatments as well. This means your own private room, with softly-lit scented candles, flowers strewn in the bath and a hushed ambiance. All that massaging and pampering is so relaxing! The stage is set for some lusty-musty jungle passion when the two of you reach home!
The surprise element -- If your anniversary falls on a weekday and she works, then it is up to you to take a day or afternoon off (it will be worth it, that's a promise!) and plan a surprise that will blow her off her feet. Prepare a romantic meal with her favourite dishes, place a large bouquet of Jack-in-the-pulpit flowers on the table, dim the lighting and have 'your' song playing softly in the background. When she returns, gallantly taker her bags, lead her to the sofa and give her a neck and shoulder massage. Even as she is digesting it all, whip out the crowning jewel -- her gift (see list above). I am sure you can manage the rest...

So, the next time someone takes a jibe, 'You're heading for the seven-year itch', just turn around and say, 'Sure, but I know just how to deal with it!'

Christmas Gifts For Kids - Discover What is Hot in 2009

Everybody wants more free time. Here, we try to give you some more of that by freeing up the time you have to spend researching Christmas gifts for kids. Below you will discover what are the hottest gift categories for kids and also the top products in each. This will help you narrow your research down freeing up time for you to do whatever you want with it.

Arts & Crafts

The first category is Arts & Crafts. It is not every year you can say this is a popular category for kids gifts, but this year is different. One particularly impressive set of gift ideas are the creations from Printies(TM). Here, kids can make their own stuffed animals with the help of their home computer and printer. What makes this so much fun is there is minimal mess and maximum creativity in designing these stuffed animals. Another product offering that is impressive are those by Girl Gourmet® in the candy jewelry section. They have two gift ideas: the Candy Jewel Factory Oven and the Candy Bead Studio which are very impressive. These let kids make their own candy jewelry which many girls will just love. The combination of these gift ideas shows arts & crafts are hot in 2009.

Interactive Games

A second category of interest are Interactive Games. A new trend is games is a focus on toddlers and young children with learning style interactive games. There are a whole crop of them this year with the Zippity Learning System, Fisher Price® Splatser, and the Fisher Price® MyToon TV. All three are a little bit different but call upon kids to get up off their feet and participate. These games are one part video game and another part active fun. This is a great trend that I think we will continue to see develop over the next few years.

Stuffed Animals

A third category that is strong again in 2009 is Stuffed Animals. This gift idea is a main fixture with Christmas Gifts for kids because the little one really like them. Here, leading the charge is Fur Real Friends® which has two impressive offerings with Lulu My Cuddlin Kitty Cat and the Zambi The Baby Elephant. Both of these have a soft fur that kids will love to touch and lifelike sounds akin to their respective animal making these a big hit with boys and girls. We fully expect these will be best sellers this fall.

Learning Toys

Our fourth and final category is learning toys. Many parents are looking for ways to give their kids the best foot forward and one example of this is the purchase of learning toys. The toy companies are aware of this interest and the result is a large number of these types of games in 2009. Some of the more popular ones include Leapfrog® My Pal Scout, Leapfrog® Text and Learn, Leapfrog® Tag Junior Book Pal, and My First Lab Duo Scope Microscope.

Kids Easter Baskets (When Family Easter Traditions Are Important)

Did you receive kids Easter baskets as a child from mom and dad and think they were from Peter Cottontail? Remember, how good it felt, to wake up and find an Easter bunny basket, just for you. And if you had siblings, Mom always had children's Easter baskets for e-v-e-r-y-one.

She took tremendous joy in making you happy and sharing that Easter love, that was going around. I'll bet mom and dad had a special day planned just for you and your brothers and sisters.

That plan, would have made you kids happy and excited enough, to have had an experience worthy of remembrance. It's those kind of plans, that are worth passing down as family Easter traditions.

One of the things we love about moms is their ability to keep family traditions being passed down for generations to come. And now, that you may be a mother yourself, it's your turn to get those kids Easter baskets, filled with treats and treasure that surprise and delight YOUR children.

1.)  Easter eggs have to be dyed, with bright delicious colors. Newspapers are first on the table, then it's cups of cold water, vinegar and dye, before the kids color everything in sight.

2.)  What more can a mom and dad ask for, but to have the best they can for the kids they love. Chocolate Easter rabbits and chocolate Easter candy are some of the goodies added to those creative baskets and Easter traditions, for the wonderful children they love.

3.)  Having our children awaken to kids Easter baskets, while finding a few colored eggs hidden around the house, is one Easter tradition the kids will pass onto their children.

4.)  Mothers doll up their children and off they go to Sunday school, to get a lot of that Easter love on a very important day to remember.

5.)  Having Easter egg hunts in the countryside or parks is another part of many Easter traditions. Kids running a playing, hunting those treasures is a pure sign of joy.

Isn't it exciting to see kids playing and having fun with their kids Easter baskets? There is green, yellow, pink and lavender Easter grass all over the place, along with chocolate candy wrappers.

The house looks like someone took the Christmas tree and shook it upside down. Icicles are all over the place. But, instead of icicles, it's Easter bunny basket grass, everywhere. And we think it's cool! Actually, we don't just think it's cool. We love it, in every form there is to love.  Our children just had the time of their lives with the Easter bunny.

Scuba Trip Report - Learning to Dive on a Liveaboard Holiday on Australia's Great Barrier Reef

As I lay in my Cairns hotel bedroom, I struggled to get to sleep. It was the night before my trip to the Barrier Reef on Scubapro III and the excited anticipation of diving on the best known of all the reefs on the planet prevented me from sinking into the land of nod.

A few hours later I was sitting on the liveaboard, looking over the rails at the only natural formation visible from space. I could not help but revel in the moment, all around me were young, eager faces representing nations from all over the world: USA, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and more. The mood reminded me of my own enthusiasm on my first trip to scuba dive the daddy of all reefs.

Beginning with an early 6 am hotel pick-up and a quick stop at Pro Dive's shop for a certification check and equipment rental, we were then bussed to Cairns' impressive marina where we boarded the Scubapro III, one of Pro Dive's 3 identical liveaboards for a laid back 3 hour steam to our first dive destination.

The Scubapro Boat

All of Pro Dive's boats (Scubapro I, II and III) have been specially designed for liveaboard diving in Cairns on short 3 day / 2 night trips. Geared around the philosophy that their guests' stay will be short and sweet, the systems and space utilisation are streamlined. For example the water supply is perfectly planned to last only the duration of the trip.

The cabins offer simplicity with no unnecessary frills. Twin cabins have 2 bunk beds, 2 wall hooks and 2 reading lights. It is best to store all excess luggage at your hotel or in the Pro Dive shop since on the boat it will either need to sit on the floor, hang on a hook, or hang on your body. Anyone over 6 feet tall (180 cm) will find the single beds on the short side as they are wall-to-wall. Sharing a double bed cabin with a shorter person would make your nights more comfortable in more ways than one. I unfortunately had to resort to sleeping in the saloon, and was very relieved I'd remembered to pack 2 essential travel items: catmask and earplugs.

There are no en-suite cabins, so communal toilets-cum-showers are shared. This being said, there always seemed to be one available when needed and the showers are powerful and hot which is relished at the end of a full day's diving. Remember to bring your own towel and toiletries to complement the liquid soap provided. The saloon and the dive deck are both excellent: spacious and practical. The saloon is the main socialising area, although the sun deck is also popular. The downside is that the shade can only be erected if there is not too much wind, meaning there is little outdoor shade in windy conditions.

The Food

The food is fresh, plentiful and very healthy. The menu, which is consistent on all trips, is dominated by fresh vegetables and salad. Coffee and biscuits are available prior to the 1st dive, which is followed by a hot breakfast. Bacon, eggs, cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt plus toast, crumpets and muffins are all on hand to fill the hungry scuba diver's belly.

Lunch and dinner include dishes such as roast chicken, spaghetti bolognaise, potato gratin, saffron rice, potato salad and coleslaw. If the rush to pile our plates with second helpings is any evidence, then the food was much appreciated by all.

Between dives there is freshly made cake which goes down well on surface intervals. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and drinking water are available free throughout the day, but other things must be purchased. Fruit juice and chocolate bars are available to buy.

However lovers of a tipple be warned... Pro Dive does not have a liquor licence. If you like a glass of wine or a cold beer at the end of the day, then you will need to bring your own booze. This presents you with a choice: either disappear off to a quiet spot to escape the excitable student chatter and enjoy your drink in peace; or bring it out in the social area and you will be guaranteed instant popularity!
The Cairns Barrier Reef Diving

We eased into our diving in Cairns with some gentle dives at Milln Reef. The seas were a little choppy due to offshore wind, visibility was 15-20m and water temperature was around around 28°C. The reefs are definitely what catch your attention in Cairns: impressively healthy bommies with hard corals, soft corals and sponges all competing for space in bursts of colour. The table corals grow up to a metre in diameter. In comparison to other regions on Australia's Great Barrier Reef, the fish life is not as impressive, but we did get to see quite a number of different species of tropical reef fish.

There seemed to be more fish life at Flynn Reef where the ever popular clownfish was a huge hit. Those of us who dived to 20m caught glimpses of white tip reef sharks under an overhang.

Briefings are comprehensive and include compass bearings to minimise the risk of divers getting lost. Local regulations also state you must dive with a safety sausage and whistle (both provided) and require that you surface with 50 bar (from 200 bar fills).

As with other dives in this area, divers are not necessarily guided. The 3 instructors and 1 divemaster focus on their students, leaving certified divers to buddy up with fellow guests and dive without in-water guides. This is less of an issue when it comes to finding things, since diving Cairns' reefs is not about searching out macro curiosities and consists more of leisurely cruises over healthy reefs peppered by small reef inhabitants. If there are not so many students diving then you can always request a guide.

The Dive Procedure

The efficiency and professionalism of the diving procedure is impressive with activities on the dive deck running smoothly. This is something of a miracle given that there may be 30 divers onboard and often half of these are Open Water students. Normally students go first and certified divers stay clear of the dive deck until it is vacated.

Everyone has their own station and basket. Entry to the water is down a few steps to the platform and is conducted in single file. Pro Dive are sticklers for safety procedures: after checking names, safety numbers and air, divers stride in one at a time. Each diver must also sign their initials against the record of maximum depth and time upon egress.

Briefings are conducted on the sun-deck and are comprehensive. Concrete mooring blocks mean line descents are always favoured which is a good thing for less experienced divers.

The Staff

The youthfulness of the clientele is reflected in the crew. While the captain and perhaps one other staff member look like they might know what a mortgage is, most of them are fresh-faced young whipper-snappers. That said, Pro Dive seems to have instilled a good sense of professionalism and responsibility in their team, and they provide a good sense of fun, which is what most of the guests are looking for.

Getting There and Away

From Cairns airport there is a regular feeder bus to downtown Cairns which only takes about 10 minutes and will drop you right at your hotel door. Pro Dive then pick you up from your hotel so it really couldn't be any easier.

Overall

You can expect the boat to be full of young travellers or budget-conscious holiday-makers. Pro Dive's operation is the perfect way for backpackers to be introduced to the world of diving. They make stepping up the ladder of qualification fun for new divers when doing the Open Water Course or Advanced or Adventure Diver courses while seeing the Great Barrier Reef for the first time.

The dive sites that Scubapro visits are suitable for the clientele. They tend to be shallow and easy dive sites, with simple dive plans. The reefs are healthy and there are enough tropical fish to excite those who have not gained experience diving in many other places. So if you are on a budget or a young traveller wanting to experience liveaboard diving in Cairns, then you could do a lot worse than hop onto one of the Scubapro boats. Just remember to bring a towel and a bottle or 2!

Flasks For Women - Classy, Fun and Personalized Bachelorette Gifts

Flasks for women are fun and fashionable

Like the song says, girls just wanna have fun. Flasks for women are definitely a fun gift. Gone are the days when flasks were only for the hard boiled private detectives of film noir. Now, flasks are trendy, fashionable, and come in every color of the rainbow.

The typical flask is a made from a silver-colored metal, usually stainless steel. Flasks for women come in pink, purple, and even turquoise. In fact, they even come in a range of hues, from pastels to deep jewel tones. Colorful flasks are available in both metal and leather-covered varieties.

What could be more girly than glitter? Women's flasks are now bedecked in sparkles and glitz. Look for women's flasks in fun metallic colors like gold and silver.

Bejeweled accessories are all the rage. Everything from cell phones to dog collars are now all about the bling factor. Flasks for women are following the trend. You can find flasks covered in every embellishment under the sun.

Other flasks for women are plain stainless steel but with feminine details in the construct of the metal. For example, instead of smooth metal, some have a textured or patterned surface. Similarly, one of the newest types of women's flasks is a stainless steel flask with a colored inlay, such as a pink princess crown or red heart. There are lots of different designs out there, so you're sure to find the perfect fit for every personality.

Another trend in flasks for women is to play with different shapes. Heart-shaped flasks are becoming more and more popular. Women want their flasks to be not only functional but fashionable, too. The rounded-corner rectangular shape of the average flask gets the job done, but it's nothing special to look at. A circular flask is eye-catching; some even resemble a make-up compact.

For a throwback to the wild days of flappers and speakeasies, why not select an ultra-slim flask? They're the perfect size for tucking into a garter! You can step out for a night on the town in Bonnie and Clyde style.

You often hear that flasks make perfect presents for groomsmen. It's not exactly traditional, but with the advent of such stylish flasks, women can give them as wedding presents, too. Women loved monogrammed accessories, and most flasks can be beautifully engraved. They're especially great gifts for bachelorette parties. The maid of honor can buy the bride-to-be a personalized flask for her last horah.

Don't forget the accessories! Many flasks for women come with matching carrying cases. With their buckles and flaps, these leather cases rival any designer purse.

The Forests And The Falls Of The Otway Ranges

As the Great Ocean Road winds its way past the treacherous yet beautiful Skeleton Coast most of it's travellers are too captivated by ocean views, sheer cliffs and impressive limestone formations to contemplate the treasures that lie inland from the coast. But the lush rainforests, the cool creeks and the crashing waterfalls of the Otway Ranges are luring more and more of them into the mountainous hinterland that lies behind Lorne and Apollo Bay, and none have left disappointed.

The rainforests of this region are part of a rich temperate ecosystem that supports a huge diversity of plant and animal life. The dense and colourful vegetation that covers the mountain slopes has a mystical quality to it, which, together with the magnificent views and the serpentine water system gives the whole area an enchanted feel that will delight you and your family. There are thirteen waterfalls in the region which provide a focal point for visitors to the ranges, who also enjoy the numerous bushtrails that cater to all level of bushwalker, from the fit and energetic to the plain lazy!

The most visited waterfall in the Otways is the Erskine Falls, which is just a short drive north of Lorne. There is also a bushwalking trail from the town to the falls, it is about 7.5 kilometres long and will take about three hours one way. On the way you are rewarded with a sighting of two other waterfalls, Straw Falls and Splitter Falls, and the path goes through a large natural amphitheatre that in centuries gone was used to hold church services. The Erskine Falls themselves consist of a sheet (more of a ribbon in the drier months!) of water pitching over a vertical thirty metre high drop into a leafy, fern lined valley below. An array of birdlife inhabits the surrounding trees, and all the vegetation close to the falls is covered in a fine mist from the falling water.

Another popular waterfall often seen as a flagship of the Otways is Triplet Falls, situated on the Colac-Lavers Hill road. A broad rock face has the effect of splitting the stream into three distinct flows that cascade downwards parallel to each other. Tall mountain ash and beech trees tower high above this quaint and charming falls, which has only recently been reopened to the public after undergoing a two million dollar redevelopment scheme. A two kilometre loop walk has been built around it, complete with raised boardwalks, viewing platforms and a picnic area. Its a perfect days outing for fans of nature and tranquility.

To complete the days outing pay a visit to the infamous Otway Fly, which is located adjacent to Triplet Falls. The fly is a 600 metre long treetop walk that rises twenty five metres above the ground, taking the walker on a journey through the upper reaches of the rainforest vegetation strata. A forty five metre high viewing platform is reached via a spiral staircase, placing the viewer at the very top of the rainforest and providing chilling yet spectacular views in all directions. This is definitely recommended for anyone wishing to come into intimate and unique contact with the plants and animals of the Otway Ranges.

Heading out to the town of Beech Forest will bring you close to two of the more spectacular waterfalls in the Otway Ranges, the Beauchamp and the Hopetoun Falls, which are both just a short drive off the Aire Valley Road. You will hear the crash of the Hopetoun Falls from the carpark before you see them, as the water plunges into the deep crevice it has carved. There is a viewing platform here from which you can look at them, or if you are feeling energetic take the steep walk down to the base of the falls. This one kilometre walk will take about forty five minutes, and requires a bit of caution. If you fancy a longer walk then go to the Beauchamp Falls, which has a three kilometre return track to the picnic area at the base of the falls. Thick forest surround the fern fringed pool down here, which is perfect for swimming.

Dotted throughout the Otways are a range of accommodation options and styles, all with unique characteristics and all taking advantage of the astounding scenery. If it seems a bit overwhelming choosing somewhere to stay, it shouldn't be. Just head to www.otwaysaccommodation.com.au, which is a simple and easy to navigate website that lists the details and information of all the accommodation options in the Otways, as well as providing vital information on local tourism operators and sites to see in the region.

Browsing through the site you will no doubt be captivated by The Boomerangs, which are an award winning series of cottages situated near Johanna. Architecturally designed in the shape of boomerangs, the interior decor is also themed around local indigenous artwork and culture. These quintessentially Australian cottages have glorious ocean views and are set against a backdrop of native forest. Its impossible not to relax there!

If you are planning a trip to this part of the world, try and include the date of October 13th in your travel plans. On that day an inaugural festival celebrating food, wine and opera is happening in Melba Gully. 'Gumboots and Pearls - Opera in the Otways' is showcasing a sensational opera group from Melbourne, as well as many local musicians, all in the mystical and enchanting confines of the lush fern gully. The dramatic beauty of the surroundings is sure to complement the drama of the opera, so if you are in the area be sure not to miss this exciting event.

Fenugreek Tea - One of the Miracle Teas

Fenugreek tea goes way back in history to the Ancient Egyptians. It has been in use from that time period to today but very good results. It has many health benefits. Fenugreek is grown around the southern Mediterranean regions - it's popular in Greece and southern Italy, for example, as well as North America and as far as India where it is one of the ingredients in curry after being dried and ground.

Fenugreek tea is made from the seeds of the plant. You can often find it as one of the ingredients in detox teas. This is because the seeds contain good fiber which swells when it comes into contact with any fluid. This helps encourage bowel movements. It is a good tea to use for the whole digestive process. It's even helpful if you have bad breath!

It has also been used to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol.

It is also used for coughs and bronchitis as it helps loosen and remove excess mucus.

You can even use it topically to calm irritation and inflammation like wounds, blisters and insect bites. In this case, use it cold. Not only that you can apply it if you have sore muscles, gout and even arthritis.

It's simple to make. Just put a teaspoon of seeds in a pot and pour a liter - that's around 34 fluid ounces - of cold water onto it. Put it on the stove and bring it to a simmer for around fifteen minutes. Another method is to soak a pinch of seeds into 5 ounces of cold water and leave it there for about three hours. Strain and use.

Fenugreek tea is truly a jewel among herbal teas as its long history proves. It rightly deserves a place with your other herbal teas or even in your medicine cabinet.
